The Minister of Interior of the Stability Government, Issam Abu Zariba, met with the Assistant Head of the Passports, Nationality, and Foreigners’ Affairs Authority, Major General Faisal Al-Mahjoub, to discuss the workflow at Sirte Gulf International Airport and ways to improve security and administrative performance as the airport’s official opening approaches.
The meeting addressed the ongoing preparations within the airport and its security mechanisms, considering its large area of approximately 25 square kilometers, equivalent to more than 274 hectares of integrated infrastructure. This requires high coordination among security agencies to ensure smooth operations and the integrity of procedures.
The discussion also covered mechanisms for improving the work of the Passports and Nationality Authority at the airport. This includes enhancing the travel document verification system, regulating the entry and exit of citizens and expatriates, as well as discussing procedures for issuing and renewing passports, granting entry visas, monitoring document integrity, and taking legal action upon the discovery of any violations.
During the meeting, the Minister of Interior stressed the need to raise the readiness of the relevant agencies at the airport and to integrate efforts between security and service entities, ensuring that the airport’s operations commence in accordance with the highest security and technical standards.
