Mohamed Takala, chairman of Libya’s High Council of State, is “not ready” to join the parliament in forming a new unified government that will lead the country to the elections, said Abdel Salam Nasia, a member of the House of Representatives.
Nasia’s remarks came following a meeting between Takala and House Speaker Aguila Saleh in Cairo last Wednesday.
Speaking to Al-Massar TV channel, Nasia said that the meeting was “within the framework of consultations about the next stage, after the [electoral] laws were approved, and mainly about forming the unified government.”
“What we learned after the meeting is that there is still more dialogue needed,” Nasia explained. “Takala is not ready for this step yet, perhaps due to pressures from inside and outside the State Council, and that is why no agreement has been reached yet.”
