Maintenance of towers on the Derna-Al-Tamimi line with support from the Fund and under the supervision of the Ministry of Electricity.

Derna – The technical maintenance teams of the Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar Overhead Lines Department completed, in just five days, comprehensive maintenance work on 45 towers on the Derna – Timimi No. (2) power transmission line, with a voltage of 220 kilovolts.

The work began last Sunday with direct support from the Supreme Committee for Resolving the Electricity Crisis, affiliated with the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, and under the supervision of the Technical Subcommittee for the Stability of the Electrical Grid of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energies, in coordination with the General Electricity Company. This is part of an emergency plan aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the electricity transmission system in the Eastern Region.

The maintenance operations included cleaning insulators of sediment and dust that affect performance efficiency, in addition to a thorough technical inspection of components and equipment to ensure their safety and the continuous, safe flow of electricity.

The work was carried out in full coordination with the Regional Control Center in the Eastern Region, which was responsible for disconnecting the power, securing the work sites, and issuing the necessary technical permits.

This work represents a pivotal stage in addressing the chronic bottlenecks within the public grid, as maintenance teams continue to carry out the scheduled tasks until the entire line is completed. This will contribute to reducing sudden outages and improving the quality of the electricity supply to citizens.
