The Medical Supply Authority has warned against the circulation of a counterfeit drug with the trade name “Ferplex 40mg” in Libyan markets, stressing that the product is unsafe for use and may pose a risk to patients’ health.
The Authority explained in an official statement that Al-Radwan Pharmaceuticals reported the existence of products being sold under the same trade name as the well-known Spanish drug, but manufactured in a country other than the original country of origin (Spain).
The statement confirmed that analyses have proven the product does not conform to specifications and causes health damage, noting that the case has been referred to the competent regulatory authorities to take the necessary legal action.
The Medical Supply Authority called on all concerned parties to immediately withdraw the product from the markets and to intensify monitoring and awareness campaigns to prevent its circulation, in order to protect citizens’ safety and prevent any health risks.
