Benghazi – the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Awad Al-Badri, held an extensive meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in the city of Benghazi with Engineer Giovanni Aloisi, the General Manager of the Italian engineering and contracting company “Indeco,” to discuss prospects for cooperation in developing the defensive plan for the Libyan electrical grid.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister welcomed the Italian delegation, emphasizing the importance of partnership with specialized international companies in the energy sector and leveraging their expertise to support the capabilities of the national grid and enhance its operational efficiency, thereby promoting stability in the electricity supply to citizens.
During the meeting, the General Manager of “Indeco” gave a technical presentation on the company’s experience and past projects, focusing on its capabilities in providing technical consulting and developing electrical infrastructure, particularly in updating defensive plans for grids.
The two sides also discussed the challenges facing the current electrical grid amid the increasing demand for energy, and ways to develop the existing defensive plan to meet growing needs and enhance the grid’s ability to handle sudden faults and disruptions.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to form a joint technical committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Electricity, the General Electricity Company, and “Indeco.” The committee will be tasked with reviewing and developing the defensive plan according to an integrated plan aimed at increasing the grid’s readiness and improving its technical performance.
The meeting was attended by a number of officials, including the Director of the Strategic Planning Department, the Minister’s Advisor for Planning Affairs, and the Assistant Director of the Transmission Network Maintenance Department, along with the Director of the Regional Control Department for the Eastern Region at the General Electricity Company.
This meeting is part of the Ministry of Electricity’s ongoing efforts to modernize the infrastructure of the energy sector in Libya and to ensure the electrical grid’s ability to face future challenges with efficiency and sustainability.
