Tripoli – The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energies of the Libyan Government announced on Friday a state of maximum emergency in all divisions of the General Electricity Company, in preparation for the heatwave that cities and regions in the Eastern Region will experience on Saturday and Sunday, according to meteorological reports.
The Emergency Committee for the Stability of the Electrical Grid explained that these measures were based on the instructions of the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energies, Dr. Awad Al-Badri. They include placing all maintenance and emergency teams on full, round-the-clock readiness, in addition to strengthening the presence of security and safety teams at main and sub-stations in various cities and regions.
The Ministry affirmed that these measures are part of its commitment to the stability of the electrical grid and ensuring the continuity of service. It called on citizens to cooperate by conserving electricity consumption, considering it a national duty urged by our true religion, to preserve the safety of the grid and serve the nation.
The Ministry concluded its statement by reaffirming its full readiness to face any emergency that may occur during the period of high temperatures.
