Makkah – The Saudi General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has launched a smart map system. This system aims to facilitate the movement of visitors to the holy sites.
Ghazi Al-Shahrani is the CEO of the Authority. He confirmed in a press statement on Wednesday that the system represents a qualitative leap. It utilizes technology to serve pilgrims. The system provides real-time guidance to visitors. It suggests the optimal path during crowd density or temporary closures. This ensures smooth movement and reduces congestion.
Mohammed Al-Saqr is the Deputy CEO for Digital Transformation. He explained that the pilot phase was launched during Ramadan. It relies on a color-coding and metric addressing system. This system divides the Two Holy Mosques into clear zones. It enhances smart crowd management. It also organizes movement with higher efficiency.
He noted that the project will see additional developments in 2026. These will include new use cases. They will enhance operational readiness. They will also improve the efficiency of services provided.
Wahib Al-Mutrafi is the Director of Business Solutions at the Authority. He stated that the system supports the processing of geographical reports. It facilitates access to electric carts by entering ticket numbers. This is done through a smart platform. It is built on accurate field data collected over months. This platform enhances response speed. It also elevates the quality of services for pilgrims.
