Speaker of the House of Representatives discusses a number of the sector's files with the Minister of Labor

Al-Qubba – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, discussed with the Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation, Abdullah Al-Sharif Erhuma, a number of files and topics related to the labour and rehabilitation sector.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister presented a comprehensive overview to the Speaker of the House of Representatives on the recommendations from conferences and workshops concerning the Labour Relations Law No. (12) of 2010. These were implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation with the participation of several relevant institutions, whose recommendations mandated the issuance of new legislation to amend the Labour Relations Law. The possibility of making these amendments in joint coordination with the Ministry of Civil Service was discussed.

The Minister also reviewed the progress made in the file of radical solutions for workers in struggling national companies and withdrawn foreign companies, explaining that the Ministry of Civil Service has already begun issuing employee placement decisions.

Erhuma affirmed that reaching this stage came with the support and follow-up of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and in accordance with the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and the instructions of the Prime Minister, Osama Hammad.
The Minister touched upon the efforts of the Emergency and Rapid Response Committee, formed under the Prime Minister’s Decree No. (201) of 2024, which reached the city of Sabha and the cities and regions of the southwest during the wave of floods and rains in September 2024. He stressed that the work accomplished was widely appreciated by the citizens and that the committee completed all its assigned tasks with high efficiency and in record time.
Erhuma called for the necessity of compensating those affected, especially Category (A) whose homes were completely damaged, in addition to expediting compensation for the families of the deceased, in line with other regions.
The Minister noted that the Ministry continues to implement its strategic plan despite the lack of sufficient budgets this year, pointing out that providing the necessary funding will contribute to accelerating the implementation of planned programs and activities, especially those related to the rehabilitation and training of job seekers.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives praised the pivotal role played by the Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation, affirming the House of Representatives’ full support for the Ministry and its readiness to overcome all difficulties and enable it to implement its strategic plans by providing the necessary legislation and facilities.
