House of Representatives member Saeed Mghieb asserted that the conditions announced by the High National Elections Commission regarding the need to provide a secure climate for holding elections are unimplementable under the current security situation and the control of armed groups over Tripoli and its surroundings.
In statements to “Al-Masar” TV, Mghieb explained that the Dbeibah government remaining in power increases the difficulty of providing a suitable environment for holding elections, considering its continuation an obstacle to launching a stable electoral process.
Mghieb expressed his surprise at the Commission’s talk of disagreements over the electoral laws issued by the 6+6 Committee, pointing out that these laws were the result of a broad domestic and international consensus.
