Start of removal of non-compliant connections for electrical generators in Sirt

Sirt – Teams began working in the municipalities of Al-Gharbiyat, Al-Dhaher, and Wadi Jarf in Sirt. These teams are tasked with inventorying and removing illegal electrical connections. These connections link private generators to the public grid, violating technical specifications. Faraj Lamloum led the operations. He is the Assistant Director of Sirt Distribution at the General Electricity Company.

Representatives from the Electric Power Protection Branch participated. The Director of Valleys Distribution Department also joined. Heads of the operation offices in the Valleys Distribution Department were present.

The Libyan News Agency correspondent in Sirt reported on the committee’s work. The committee conducted a field tour. The tour monitored and inventoried non-compliant connections. Some citizens had installed these to link generators to the public network. This supplied power to barns, fuel stations, and farms.

The tour resulted in the removal of illegal connections. Necessary measures were taken. These ensure the safety of the electrical grid and its workers.

This committee was formed under instructions from Abdul Hamid Hiblou. He is the Director of Sirt Distribution Management. His directives call for teams to inventory and remove illegal connections. This ensures adherence to technical specifications and approved requirements.

The Libyan News Agency correspondent noted public support. Citizens and farmers welcomed the committee’s work. They affirmed their readiness to cooperate with the company. They also pledged to comply with technical specifications. This includes installing switches to prevent power feedback during maintenance. This action protects lives and technical staff.

Full adherence to technical requirements was emphasized. Authorities warned against future violations. Legal action will be taken if any are discovered. Offenders will be referred to relevant law enforcement agencies.
