U.S. Ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, is visiting Cairo on Monday to discuss with senior Egyptian officials support for holding Libya’s presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, according to U.S. Embassy.
Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, valued the Libyan House of Representatives’ (HoR) actions, granting legitimacy to the executive authority and exercising its oversight role, leading to the realization of the legitimate aspirations of the Libyan people of holding elections.
The Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) has welcomed the joint statement issued by Egypt and Saudi Arabia regarding HoR procedures, as it is the elected legislative body that expresses the Libyan people, and is entrusted with enacting laws and granting legitimacy to the executive authority.
