The President of the Audit Bureau, Khalid Shakshak, held a meeting with Stephen Sanford, head of the US delegation and Director of Strategic Planning and External Liaison at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 25th Congress of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI 25), held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
Discussing the Development of Supervisory Work Systems
According to the Audit Bureau’s media office, the meeting reviewed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two sides and exchanging views on developing supervisory work systems, and ways to enhance institutional capacities to keep pace with modern transformations in the fields of governance, accountability, and transparency.
International Auditor Fellowship Program
The meeting also addressed the International Auditor Fellowship Program (IAFP), which is supervised by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, and is considered one of the world’s leading specialized programs for preparing and qualifying supervisory leaders and building institutional capacity.
Participation of Bureau Personnel in the Program
The two parties discussed the possibility of the Audit Bureau’s personnel participating in the fellowship program to benefit from the field experience and applied knowledge it offers in the areas of modern auditing, digital transformation, and the use of smart technologies in auditing.
Agreement to Enhance Cooperation and Knowledge Exchange
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides affirmed their commitment to enhancing existing cooperation to allow for the exchange of expertise, knowledge, and mutual benefit, in a way that contributes to advancing the capabilities of the supreme audit institutions in both countries and strengthens their role within the INTOSAI system.
