The director of the sales and operations office at Al-Rahila Fuel Distribution Company, Miloud Nwigi, announced the launch of a new fuel distribution system that aligns with the nature of the Libyan market, explaining that it is a system to regulate the distribution process rather than a for-profit project.
Electronic cards at nominal prices and available to everyone
Nwigi said in a statement to the “Fawasel” platform that any citizen can purchase the card once for only 25 dinars, with the ability to check the balance via the receipt, adding that recharging the card is free and can be done at the company’s headquarters. He explained that the company has so far issued about 3,000 cards to public entities and citizens, and they are also available to foreigners.
Expanding Electronic Payment Services
Nwigi noted that the company is working on collaborating with specialized companies to enable citizens to recharge the card through various electronic payment methods. He stressed that the trial that began in Tripoli has met with wide acceptance, which has encouraged expansion into other regions where Al-Rahila Company’s fuel stations are available.
Plan to Equip 50 Stations with the New System
He explained that about 50 fuel stations in various major regions in Libya will soon be equipped with the electronic card payment system, stressing that there is no difference between paying with cash and paying with a card at the stations, as a one-time fee is charged only when the card is first issued, while subsequent recharges are without any additional fees.
