Tripoli – The National Committee for Sustainable Development of the House of Representatives held an expanded coordination meeting. It met with the UN Youth Task Force. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
This meeting followed up on the one held last October. Committee Chair Rabia Abu Ras and member Rahma Adam attended the meeting. Consultants, coordinators, and representatives from specialized UN agencies were also present. Discussions covered the House of Representatives’ vision for legislative development.
This vision aims to integrate Libyan youth into decision-making. It also seeks to provide a legal environment that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship. International initiatives will be aligned with national priorities. This will achieve tangible results for young people. Ways to cooperate on several strategic axes were also explored. These include legislative development and data-driven policymaking. Capacity building was also discussed. Climate action will promote youth participation in environmental initiatives. It will also foster sustainable development.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to establish a joint practical framework. This framework will convert discussions into executable policies and programs. The pivotal role of the House of Representatives was emphasized. This role involves empowering youth. Youth are essential partners in building Libya’s future.
