Bamako – The General Staff of the Malian Armed Forces announced the neutralization of two individuals. They were described as terrorists. This occurred during an operation carried out by the army yesterday. The operation took place near Lere town. Lere is part of the Timbuktu region in the north.
The authority clarified in a statement that the operation was based on intelligence information. Forces pursued two individuals riding a motorcycle. They were in the area to recover animals.
The statement added that the operation resulted in the confiscation of three submachine guns. Two ammunition magazines were also seized. A wireless communication device was found. The motorcycle was also confiscated.
The General Staff affirmed the army’s commitment to protecting residents. It also vowed to ensure the freedom of movement for people and their property.
