طرابلس – The first Libyan Children’s Climate Summit will begin tomorrow, Saturday, in Tripoli. Its slogan is “Today’s Children, Makers of a Better Tomorrow for Libya.” The summit aims to raise environmental and climate awareness among children. It also seeks to convey their voices to decision-makers.
Hajer Al-Gharyani is the head of the summit’s preparatory committee. She stated this to the Libyan News Agency. The summit is a pioneering national initiative. It aims to educate children about pollution risks. It also addresses climate change and its impact on Libya’s present and future. Furthermore, it instills a culture of environmental protection and social responsibility from an early age.
Al-Gharyani affirmed the summit’s goal. It seeks to actively involve children in climate issues. Organizers believe children are a key part of the solution. They are not merely affected by environmental problems. Their participation boosts their awareness. It helps prepare a generation capable of supporting sustainable development paths.
She added that the summit is organized under the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research. It partners with the Libyan Award for Young Innovators. Nine children participated in all preparation details. They selected the slogan and designed promotional materials. They also developed programs and produced event videos.
She confirmed the preparatory committee’s role was limited. It focused solely on scientific and guidance aspects. This ensured the summit reflected children’s visions. It captured their ideas and aspirations regarding environmental and climate issues.
Al-Gharyani concluded her statement. She emphasized the summit represents a first step. It initiates a series of child-led environmental initiatives. It sends a clear message. Building a better environmental future for Libya begins with children’s awareness today.
