Benghazi – The Libyan Al-Ahly Club fans association rejected a decision. This decision came from the Competitions Committee and the Executive Office. It concerned not postponing the team’s match against Al-Anwar Club. The association views this as ignoring the passing of Libyan football icon Wanis Khair.
The association issued a statement. It affirmed that keeping the match schedule shows contempt. This disrespects the history of a Libyan football symbol. It also lacks appreciation for fan sentiments. The association holds the Competitions Committee fully responsible. It also holds the Executive Office fully responsible. This is for the anger and tension in the sports community.
The association demanded an immediate correction of the decision. It called for postponing the round. This would honor the memory of the deceased. It stressed that Al-Ahly fans are committed. They will defend the club’s symbols and history. The association affirmed that “loyalty is a stance.” It added that the club’s dignity and symbols are not negotiable.
