Ankara confirmed today that seven Turkish nationals, held by the Libyan National Army (LNA) for over two years, have been released and brought back to Turkey.
“During this process, the situation of our citizens was being constantly followed and intensive efforts were exerted to ensure their safe release by all our relevant units and institutions,” the Turkish foreign ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, Turkish President has “spoken with our citizens on the phone and extended his best wishes.”
Ankara thanked the Libyan government and Qatar for “their contributions to the process of releasing of our citizens.”
