Vienna – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced an agreement. Ukraine and Russia agreed to a “local ceasefire.” This ceasefire is for the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. It aims to allow repairs to the “last remaining backup power line” at the site. The agency stated that Ukrainian power grid technicians will begin repairs in the coming days.
They will fix the 330-kilovolt line. This line was damaged and cut on January 2nd. Military activity caused the damage. The IAEA has deployed a team. This team will oversee the repair operations. The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant generates power. It sustained partial damage in early January. Russian shelling targeted its nearby areas.
