United Nations Mission: We are committed to maintaining calm and preventing confrontations in Tripoli

The spokesperson for the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Mohamed Al-Assadi, confirmed that the mission is continuing its communication with the ceasefire and security and military arrangements committees of the Presidential Council, as part of efforts aimed at maintaining calm and stability and preventing the capital, Tripoli, from sliding into armed confrontations.

Supporting the efforts of notables and dignitariesAl-Assadi explained in statements to “Al Jazeera” channel that the mission continues to support the efforts of notables and dignitaries and to mobilize the necessary international support to limit the conflict, with the aim of sparing Libyan blood and providing a safe and conducive environment for the political process and the implementation of the UN roadmap.

Commitment to mediation and de-escalationHe pointed out that the mission is committed to supporting mediation and de-escalation efforts to consolidate the truce and to push the ongoing negotiations in Tripoli towards tangible progress.
