Tripoli – The University of Tripoli has topped the list of Libyan universities, securing the 136th rank in the Arab region in the QS Arab Region University Rankings for 2026, issued by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds, which specializes in higher education.
Through its website, the university extended its sincere congratulations to all Libyan universities on the inclusion of 11 Libyan universities in this ranking, an achievement considered the first of its kind with this number. It affirmed that this accomplishment is a qualitative step that reflects the development of higher education in Libya.
The University of Tripoli led the list of Libyan universities by ranking 136th at the Arab region level, followed by the University of Benghazi, Zaytuna University, Al-Asmarya University, Al-Mergib University, Libyan International Medical University, Sebha University, Sabratha University, Misrata University, Sirte University, and Zawiya University.
The QS ranking is considered one of the most prominent global university rankings, as it relies on key indicators, most notably Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Teaching Quality, and the level of scientific research, making it an essential reference for students, parents, and universities around the world in evaluating higher education institutions.
The University of Tripoli affirmed that this progress reflects the efforts of national academic institutions in advancing the level of higher education in the country and strengthening the presence of the State of Libya on the Arab and international map.
