The United States Special Envoy for Libya, Richard Norland, has welcomed the reopening of the coastal road linking eastern and western Libya, announced today by the 5+5 Joint Military Commission in Sirte.
“The United States joins all Libyans in welcoming the opening of the coastal road and commends the JMC and those leaders who made this possible,” Ambassador Norland said according to the US Embassy.
“This will help to reunify the country commercially and socially, and sets the stage for further progress on the urgent tasks of adopting a state budget and defining the constitutional and legal basis for elections in December, Norland added.
