US Infinera and Libya’s Hatif sign project contract to enhance Libyan telecommunication

The American company Infinera and Libya’s Hatif signed a contract on Monday for a project to upgrade Libya’s telecommunications fiber optic network, during a ceremony that took place in Tripoli, according to a statement released by the U.S. Embassy in Libya.

The signing ceremony took place on the margins of a meeting between Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, U.S. Ambassador Richard Norland and representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce, who also attended the ceremony.

“It’s an example of how improving stability and continued political progress can lead to jobs and economic benefits for the Libyan people,” Norland was quoted as saying in a tweet by the embassy.
