The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) warned on Thursday. Food aid in Sudan could run out within two months. This is due to a lack of funding. Millions are suffering from severe hunger.
The UN program clarified in a statement. Millions will be deprived of vital food aid within weeks. This is due to the absence of immediate additional funding. Food rations have already been cut. They are now at the minimum level for survival.
The program expects food stocks in Sudan to run out. This is anticipated by the end of next March. Its UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification report stated this. The report confirmed the spread of famine. This famine is in Al-Fashir, North Darfur. It is also in Kadugli, South Kordofan.
The program stated that the conflict in Sudan has led to the world’s largest hunger crisis. It has also caused the world’s largest emergency displacement situation. Civilians continue to pay the price of war. More than 21 million people suffer from acute food insecurity across the entire country.
