Benghazi – Forty-seven members of the Libyan House of Representatives have announced their support for the U.S. initiative presented by Special Envoy Massad Boulos. The initiative calls for forming a small committee to draft a roadmap for the next phase, aiming to bridge divisions among key Libyan parties and address the country’s political split.
In a statement issued from Benghazi, the lawmakers said lasting stability in Libya depends on a unified national will that puts the country’s interest above all else, works to unify institutions, strengthen security, safeguard national wealth, and protect state sovereignty and independence.
The members affirmed they are closely following various initiatives and efforts to revive the political process and move toward greater stability and effectiveness, particularly as the ongoing political deadlock has continued to hamper progress in building the state.
The lawmakers said they had examined the U.S. proposal forwarded by Boulos, which involves forming a small committee to develop a roadmap for Libya’s next stage. According to the statement, the initiative aims to narrow the gap between active Libyan parties, unify efforts across eastern and western Libya, and prepare the ground for a comprehensive national settlement.
The representatives declared their full support for the initiative, describing it as a serious opportunity for progress. They emphasized the need for any outcomes to be rooted in national principles and to provide practical, actionable solutions that reflect the will of the Libyan people and fulfill their hopes for stability, development, and an end to transitional phases.
The lawmakers also expressed readiness to support every responsible national effort to ensure the success of this path. They pledged to help overcome any political and legislative obstacles, facilitate institution-building, reinforce stability, and move toward a unified and effective state.
