An analytical report published by the London-based newspaper “Al-Arab” has asserted that Russia is a key player in pushing the United Nations towards implementing its plan to hold elections in Libya.
The report quoted political analysts as confirming Moscow’s pivotal role in any UN initiative, whether through the UN Security Council or its historical ties with Libya, as the United Nations seeks Russian support to implement the recently approved political roadmap to resolve the Libyan crisis.
The report concluded by noting that Russia nevertheless remains skeptical of Western intentions, especially after previous Western interventions that have fueled the crisis.
