Libyan journalist Jibril Al-Obeidi criticized Mabrouka Toghi. She is the Culture Minister in the Dbeibah government. Al-Obeidi’s criticism stems from her rejection of Benghazi. Benghazi was proposed as the Arab Capital of Culture for 2026. She also declined to participate in the Kuwait Arab Capital of Culture 2025 celebration.
Al-Obeidi made these remarks in a post on his personal Facebook page. He stated the minister rejected Benghazi as the Arab Capital of Culture for 2026. She also refused to join the Kuwait Arab Capital of Culture 2025 event. He added: “Libya will remain an Arab nation.” “This stands despite anyone who ignores its identity.” “It also stands despite those who futilely attempt to erase it.”
