Benghazi – The head of the Higher Committee for the Ahmed Yousef Aqila Short Story Award announced the winners for its current session. He confirmed this edition saw remarkable participation. It reflected significant development in Libyan narrative. This includes advancements in language, artistic content, and humanitarian themes.
The committee head clarified the first prize went to author Hoda Al-Awjali. Her text was titled ‘Red on the Walls’. It featured a cohesive narrative structure and a deep artistic vision. Hanan Ali Abu Aisha secured second place for her story ‘The Letter Seller’. It received acclaim for its humanitarian sensibility and mature narrative expression. Mohammed Meftah Amteer won third place for his text ‘Margins of Pleasure’. He presented a striking artistic treatment in style and presentation.
A shared third place was awarded to Rabia Mohammed Ali Al-Asaifar. Her text was named ‘The Patient Woman’. This acknowledges her strong narrative presence. It also recognizes her mastery of short story writing tools.
The committee head noted the winning texts showed diverse experiences and styles. They demonstrated a clear ability to deeply and consciously address humanitarian issues. This strengthens the short story’s position in the Libyan cultural scene. It also supports the presence of young literary voices.
The committee head extended thanks and appreciation to the arbitration committee. Salim Ali Al-Abbar chaired the committee. Ramiz Al-Nuweisri and Ahmed Bashir Al-Aila were members. He praised their efforts in reading and evaluating works. They used precise critical standards. This ensured integrity and objectivity in selecting the winning texts.
