The governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al Saddiq al Kabir, met on Wednesday in Tripoli with the members of the Finance Commission of the House of Representatives to coordinate efforts aimed at controlling public spending, as well as “ensuring the achievement of financial stability and sustainability,” according to a statement by the central bank.
The meeting also examined the general financial conditions and the trend of public spending in the years 2022 and 2023, the general picture of the volume of public spending for next year and the preparation of the budget issued by the parliament for 2024.
The talks then examined “some financial policies, reviewing them and replacing them with others that guarantee the improvement of the quality of public spending and start the preparation of the general state budget project by forming a joint committee of the competent authorities”.
