Tripoli – The Public Prosecution ordered the provisional detention of an employee. He worked at the Civil Registry Office in Tarhouna. Investigations confirmed he forged family records. This allowed 11 foreigners to obtain national identification numbers. The Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a statement. It said a committee is investigating forged civil status data.
This committee operates under the Public Attorney’s Office of Al-Khums. It examined evidence of forged family records. These forgeries allowed eleven foreigners to obtain national numbers. These numbers facilitated their access to grants allocated for Libyans. They also enabled them to benefit from citizenship rights. The statement confirmed the Public Prosecution’s order to detain the employee.
This employee was responsible for registering the forged data. The data was recorded in the registers of the Civil Registry Office, Tarhouna – Central. The Public Prosecution also directed the suspension of the national numbers. It ordered the evaluation of administrative documents based on the forged papers.
