Benghazi – The former Prime Minister of the Central African Republic, Martin Ziguélé, visited the shrine of the Sheikh of Martyrs, Omar Al-Mukhtar, in the city of Benghazi, where he was received by the Director of the Peace Center, Dr. Faraj Najm, in an event organized by the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ziguélé expressed his great admiration for the steadfastness of Omar Al-Mukhtar and his resistance to Italian colonialism, praising his heroic role in the Libyan people’s struggle against colonial powers.
Ziguélé affirmed that Omar Al-Mukhtar represents a global symbol of the struggle for freedom and independence, not only in Libya but in all African countries.
The Director of the Peace Center, Dr. Faraj Najm, told a “WAL” correspondent that the center has recently received many African leaders and diplomats who came to document the history of Libya’s struggle and embody the sacrifices of its ancestors, adding that Ziguélé’s visit comes in the context of strengthening the bonds of solidarity and shared history among African peoples.
At the conclusion of his visit, the former Prime Minister of the Central African Republic wrote his impressions in the Peace Center’s guestbook, emphasizing the importance of drawing lessons from Omar Al-Mukhtar’s struggle to face current challenges.
