Meeting at the House of Representatives Diwan headquarters, Libya – The committee, formed by Decision No. (62) of 2025 by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor Aguila Saleh, held a meeting at the Diwan headquarters to discuss the files of Libyans imprisoned abroad and their legal and humanitarian detention conditions, according to the official website of the House of Representatives.
The meeting concluded with the decision to prepare an accurate database of prisoners’ names, their places of detention, and case details, while communicating with official government bodies and the Attorney General’s Office. A legal expert will be assigned to join the committee to support legal aspects and procedures, in addition to coordinating with Libyan embassies abroad to ensure rights are monitored and necessary assistance is provided, according to the Council’s official website.
It was decided that an interim report will be prepared and submitted to the Speaker of the House of Representatives within two weeks of the meeting date. A schedule of regular meetings was also established for follow-up and to take swift and effective action, as stated in the announcement from the Council’s official platform.
The committee includes as its members the House of Representatives members: Al-Salihin Abdel Nabi, Ahmed Al-Sharif, Mohammed Al-Waer, and Mrs. Kamel Al-Yaquobi, according to an update from the official website of the House of Representatives.
