The House of Representatives welcomed efforts by the United Nations mission to end the crisis in Libya and called on the UN to submit the outcomes of the structured dialogue to parliament.
The structured dialogue is a key part of the political roadmap facilitated by the UN Support Mission in Libya. It also aims to create a politically and technically viable electoral framework and to unify Libya’s institutions through a single government, according to statements from the mission.
The UN said the structured dialogue seeks broad Libyan participation to address critical issues in four main areas: governance, the economy, security, and national reconciliation. The process is intended to support the election process and tackle long-term drivers of conflict.
The UN mission announced the conclusion of the structured dialogue on June 7, 2026. Its final report included more than 525 recommendations aimed at enabling national elections, unifying and strengthening state institutions, and addressing several longstanding causes of conflict in Libya.
Parliament’s request to receive the dialogue’s outcomes comes amid ongoing debate over the recommendations and how they should be handled. It remains unclear whether these outcomes will translate into concrete steps to end the crisis, or if they will require further review by relevant Libyan institutions.
