Houn – A team from the ‘Ahl al-Khair’ charity group in Houn has begun distributing free medical examination cards. These cards are for kidney failure patients. These patients regularly visit public and private hospitals and clinics. This initiative aims to alleviate their health and financial burdens. It also seeks to improve their access to necessary medical care.
Najia Abdullah Abu Sha’wa, head of the team, stated this. There are approximately 30 kidney failure patients in Houn. They continuously visit hospitals and medical clinics. The card allows holders to undergo free medical examinations and laboratory tests. It also covers the cost of their specific medications. This is done in cooperation with several health authorities.
Abu Sha’wa noted that the Jufra region has over 90 cases of kidney failure. All these cases urgently need support. This support includes providing medications. It also covers regular medical examinations and tests. The group aims to expand the initiative. This expansion will cover the largest possible number of patients.
She added that ‘Ahl al-Khair’ continuously organizes a Ramadan campaign. This campaign targets low-income families. It provides financial and in-kind assistance. This helps families cope with living expenses. These expenses are rising due to increased prices of food, meat, and other basic goods.
These campaigns rely on donations from benefactors. Donors include businessmen, traders, and Houn residents. The aid comprises Ramadan baskets. These baskets contain essential food items. They also include dates, meat, vegetables, milk, and juices.
