A news report published by the English-speaking Maltese newspaper ‘Malta Independent’ stated that a Libyan was arrested in the city of Hamrun. He was charged with drug trafficking. This arrest followed a surveillance operation. Police conducted the operation during a routine patrol.
The report clarified details of the arrest. The arrested individual is 36 years old. Police officers spotted him during a regular patrol on March 26. He was seen handing over a suspected drug package to another person. This led to his immediate arrest.
According to the report, a search of the individual was conducted. Officers found 28 bags containing a suspected synthetic drug. An iron tool and a sum of money were also discovered.
The report added that a subsequent search of the arrested person’s home took place. More substances were found there. These included pieces believed to be cannabis resin. Other materials related to drug trafficking were also found, police said.
