The Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) granted on Tuesday confidence to the new government, headed by Fathi Bashagha, with a majority of 92 votes out of 101.
Confidence was given to the new government to be an alternative to the Government of National Unity (GNU), headed by Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh.
HoR session was held this evening in Tobruk, under the chairmanship of its President, Aqila Saleh, after Bashagha made some amendments to the lineup that was discussed in Monday’s session.
At the end of the session, Aqila Saleh said: “According to this vote, confidence was given to the new government.”
HoR appointed Fathi Bashagha as prime minister to replace Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh, and his choice came after the HoR adopted a new road map, according to which the government will be reconstituted and elections will be held within a maximum of 14 months.
