Major General Saleh Rajab Al-Mismari, head of the Supreme Council of Ashraf and Murabitin Tribes and former Minister of Interior, said that Libyans are living in a state of severe deprivation of their resources despite the country possessing enormous oil wealth. He affirmed that Libyans’ money is directed to the coffers of militias in the capital, Tripoli, which control public funds, while citizens suffer from electricity and gas cuts and cash shortages.
In exclusive statements to “Al-Ain News,” Al-Mismari explained that the Libyan Homeland Movement is not a factional or regional movement, but rather a comprehensive national call for all Libyans, including those residing in areas under militia control, to peacefully demand the country’s unity and the restoration of its sovereignty.
Al-Mismari stressed that the popular escalation will be completely peaceful, noting that the primary goal of the movement is to return to a state of elected institutions through free presidential elections that restore stability and its historical role in the region to Libya.
