Misurata military leaders ask two premiers to maintain unarmed political conflict

The conflict of the transition of power in Libya between Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh and his parliament-designated rival Fathi Bashagha, must remain political and not lead to armed fighting, military leaders from Misurata said in a joint statement on Saturday morning.

The military leaders explained that, for their part, they will do everything possible to open communication channels between militias affiliated each of the two premiers.

Furthermore, in the communiqué, it is stated that these military units will consider “the United Nations as responsible for any collision between armed groups, should they occur”.

It should be noted, however, that the communiqué was neither signed nor re-launched by all the military leaders.
