Maasoud Boulos, the US Representative and a Trump advisor, addressed the UN Security Council. He stated his country is working to gather senior officials from eastern and western Libya. The goal is to establish concrete steps for economic and military integration.
Boulos affirmed this during his Security Council address. The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) will conduct its annual exercises in April in Sirte. These exercises will involve Libyan forces from both the east and west. They will train side by side. Boulos believes this step is a start towards more joint training.
Boulos further stated the United States encourages Libyan leaders. They should fully implement the unified development agreement. He noted his country supported reaching this agreement. The US also encourages adopting an annual budget. These actions represent a major step towards economic reconciliation.
He indicated that agreements and compromises open the door to fruitful cooperation. This cooperation will create conditions for unified governance. Unified governance will pave the way for elections.
