The investigating authority ordered the pre-trial detention of the Zawiya region official at the Brega Oil and Gas Marketing Company, pending investigation, after his involvement in an attempt to prevent the distribution of fuel inside the refinery was proven.
The Public Prosecution explained that the official’s action was aimed at pressuring the administration to cancel the decision to move the fuel quantity reservation office of the Sharara Oil Marketing Company to its main headquarters. The investigation proved that he conspired with others to halt fuel distribution for a specific period, prompting the Public Prosecution to intervene and take the necessary measures to protect the residents’ right to obtain fuel.
The Prosecution noted that it will continue to pursue the other individuals involved in the incident after the investigation and interrogation procedures are completed.
