Referring an accused to the judiciary after grave violations against migrants in Al-Kufra and Ajdabiya

Tripoli – The Public Prosecution referred an accused individual to trial. This followed serious violations against migrants. Investigations by the Internal Security Agency and Battalion 166 confirmed his involvement. He was part of a criminal gang. The gang organized illegal migration and human trafficking. These activities occurred in Kufra and Ajdabiya.

The Public Prosecutor’s office stated that preliminary investigations were conducted. Judicial police officers participated in these procedures. The efforts led to the liberation of 195 migrants. These migrants had been forcibly detained. They were subjected to various forms of torture. The aim was to extort money from their families. The payments were demanded for their release.

The office also reported the discovery of a burial site. It contained 21 bodies. These were migrants who had been killed. They were victims during the gang’s operations.

The Public Prosecutor’s deputy confronted the accused. The accused was identified by initials (M.F.H.). He was informed of the charges against him. Three crimes were previously filed. These included killing migrants and human trafficking. He will be sent to court for judgment on these cases.

Investigators continue collecting DNA samples from the bodies. Autopsy procedures are also being conducted. Judicial police have been directed to take necessary measures. Their task is to dismantle the criminal gang. They must also pursue the remaining members. This is part of the Public Prosecution’s efforts. The goal is to combat human trafficking. It also aims to protect migrant rights. Accountability for severe violations is ensured.
