Serbian report: Belgrade seeks to strengthen cooperation with Libya and intensify political dialogue

Libya – A news report highlighted strengthening comprehensive cooperation. It was published by the English section of the official Serbian government website. The report detailed collaboration between Serbia and Libya. This occurred across several fields. It covered a meeting. Serbian Prime Minister Duro Makot met with Libyan Ambassador to Serbia Mohamed Abdelghalbou. They discussed bilateral relations. The report described these relations as historic and friendly. It noted decades of extended cooperation between the two nations.

The report quoted Makot. He confirmed that 2025 marks a significant anniversary. It is the 70th year since diplomatic relations were established. Makot stressed the importance of intensifying political dialogue. This should happen in the upcoming period. High-level visits will facilitate this.

Makot expressed satisfaction, according to the report. He noted the “Serbian-Libyan Business Forum” in Belgrade. It took place on December 10 and 11. He also mentioned a similar forum. This was held in Tripoli in January 2025. Makot confirmed these forums opened new avenues. They enhance economic cooperation. Reciprocal visits by businesspeople will become regular. Exchange of expertise will also be common practice. This will strengthen economic ties between both countries.

Makot stressed the need to deepen defense cooperation. This was according to the report. He highlighted all defense areas. These include military cooperation. Military medical, economic, and educational cooperation are also vital. He also mentioned military scientific cooperation. Makot affirmed Serbia and Libya will continue mutual support. This applies to issues important to both nations.
