The Municipal Council Sirte announced on Friday its support for Fathi Bashagha who was named as a Libya’s new interim prime minister by the House of Representatives.
The Libyan 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) has kicked off its ninth meeting, in the presence of all its members and a delegation of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), at the Committee’s headquarters in Sirte.

The 5+5 Joint Military Committee convened a meeting in Sirte on Tuesday and talks are expected to continue for two days, sources told The Libya Update.
General Abdel-Razek Al-Nadori, the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), and General Mohammed Al-Hadad, the leader of military forces in west of Libya, met for the second time in Sirte today to discuss unification of the country’s military institution as well as removal of foreign forces, Al-Enwan newspaper reported.
Stephanie Williams, the United Nations Envoy to Libya, arrived in Sirte today where she took part in a new round of talks by the 5+5 Joint Military Committee.
Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, General Commander of the Libyan National Army, welcomed the reopening of the coastal road linking eastern and western Libya, which was announced by the Joint Military Committee 5+5 on Friday afternoon, calling for the removal of foreign forces from Libya.
Director General of the Libyan Center for Mines and Remnants of War, Muhammed al-Turgoman, confirmed that the coastal road, Misrata-Sirte, is free of mines and remnants of war, noting that the coastal area still needs more surveying in the waters.
