Temporary closure of Kufra International Airport for comprehensive maintenance works

Al-Kufra – Al-Kufra International Airport management announced a temporary closure. The airport will be closed to air traffic for one full month. This closure starts on Monday, January 19. It will last until February 18. This is for comprehensive maintenance and preparation work. The work will occur within the airport facilities.

Airport management clarified this in a post on its official page. The closure decision is part of an approved plan. This plan aims to raise air safety levels. It also seeks to improve infrastructure efficiency. Maintenance work includes several vital facilities. The aircraft runway is a primary focus. This ensures the airport’s readiness for flights. It will meet established technical and safety standards.

The management affirmed these measures prioritize passenger safety. They also ensure the safety of air crews. The goal is to enhance the airport’s operational capacity. This applies to both the medium and long term. It will improve the quality of services provided. It also supports air transport in the southeastern region.

Al-Kufra International Airport management urged citizens and travelers. This includes patients and students. Airlines and related entities were also addressed. They should note the temporary closure period. They need to arrange their affairs accordingly. Travel plans should align with the specified duration. This is until maintenance work is completed.

The management stressed it will update the public. Updates will cover all developments regarding the work progress. It will also officially announce the airport’s reopening date. This will happen immediately after maintenance finishes. Announcements will be made via official channels. Approved media outlets will also be used.

Airport management confirmed its commitment. It will complete the work on schedule. This ensures the highest levels of safety and operational efficiency. It contributes to enhancing the airport’s role. This role is to serve the region and its citizens.
