Benghazi – The House of Representatives’ Energy and Natural Resources Committee held a meeting with the chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Masoud Al-Mejna. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Arabian Gulf Oil Company.
The committee was led by its chairman, Issa Al-Araibi. Members Yousef Al-Aqouri, Salem Qanan, Aisha Al-Tablaki, Miftah Al-Shaari, and Mawloud Al-Aswad were also present.
The meeting reviewed various issues related to the NOC’s work. This included the primary challenges facing the sector. They also discussed ways to handle them under current conditions.
The committee discussed development plans with the NOC chairman. These plans aim to increase efficiency and boost production. They also addressed the corporation’s financial difficulties due to the lack of a budget. This directly impacts the implementation of projects and development programs.
The discussion also addressed fuel supply and distribution. They explored ways to curb smuggling operations. Additionally, they reviewed the foreign offices opened by the NOC and the viability of their continuation.
Talks covered methods to increase oil refinery capacity. The goal is to meet local market demand and reduce reliance on imports.
The Energy and Natural Resources Committee affirmed its full support for the NOC. It backs the corporation’s plans to develop the sector and increase production.
