Cairo – The Libyan goalball team departed on the morning of Thursday, December 4, 2025, for the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to participate in the African Goalball Championship, one of the most prominent continental events on the Paralympic Committee’s calendar.
Egypt will host the championship from December 4th to the 11th of this month, with the participation of six national teams: Egypt (the host country), Libya, Algeria, Cameroon, Benin, and Niger.
The director of the Information and Documentation Office of the Libyan Paralympic Committee, Mohammed Al-Salini Al-Fitouri, confirmed to the Libyan News newspaper that the team’s participation comes within the framework of the committee’s commitment to ensuring an effective presence for Libya in continental competitions, noting that the team has completed all its technical and physical preparations before heading to the championship.
Al-Salini said in a press statement: “The team enters the championship with determination and resolve to deliver a performance befitting its capabilities, and we aspire to compete for the top positions despite the strength of the participating teams. Our confidence in the players is high, and we hope they will achieve results that raise Libya’s name in this continental forum.”
