Tripoli – The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced a fire. It resulted from a leak in a valve. This occurred on the crude oil export line from the Sharara field. The location was Kilometer 538 near the Bir al-Marhan area in Hamada. No human casualties were reported from the incident.
The NOC issued a statement. It was published on its official page early Wednesday. Emergency, firefighting, safety, and maintenance teams arrived at the leak site. They began to handle the incident professionally. Their goal was to control it and address its causes.
The corporation confirmed that production from the Sharara field continues. Pumping was gradually diverted. It went through the El Feel field line to Mellitah port. Another portion was diverted. This portion went via the Hamada (18-inch) line to Zawiya tanks. This significantly reduced losses.
The statement indicated constant meetings. The Chairman and Board members of the NOC have been in continuous session since the incident. They are monitoring developments. Competent authorities have initiated investigations. This is to determine the causes of the leak.
