Benghazi – The Minister of Interior, Major General Essam Abu Zariba, issued urgent instructions to improve and develop the services of the Passports, Nationality, and Foreigners’ Affairs Authority in the city of Benghazi, during an inspection visit he conducted today, Saturday.
The Minister was accompanied during the visit by a number of security leaders and was received by the Assistant Head of the Authority for the Eastern Region, Major General Faisal Al-Mahjoub, and the Head of the Authority’s branch, Brigadier General Suleiman Shawail, along with heads of departments, offices, and branches.
The Minister reviewed the workflow within the Authority and listened to feedback on the challenges facing employees and citizens, including severe overcrowding due to increased demand for passport issuance and the limited operation of some offices, which are open only two days a week.
Major General Abu Zariba affirmed that obtaining a passport is a guaranteed right for every citizen, stressing the need to enhance the photography system and increase capacity to alleviate pressure on applicants, along with providing additional halls to accommodate larger numbers.
The Minister also directed the immediate disbursement of a budget to cover essential needs and to address shortcomings hindering operations, with the aim of accelerating and facilitating transactions for citizens.
These steps come in response to the repeated complaints expressed by citizens across various platforms, affirming that their concerns have become a priority for the Ministry of Interior.
