Porto-Novo – Voters in Benin headed to the polls on Sunday. They will elect a new president to succeed Patrice Talon. Around 8 million voters are registered. They are distributed across over 17,000 polling stations. These stations are located throughout the West African nation.
Benin’s population exceeded 15 million in 2024. Youth constitute the largest demographic. This is similar to many Sub-Saharan African countries. Official results are expected. They will be announced within 48 hours of polling closing.
