Addis Ababa – Ethiopian voters headed to the polls Monday to cast their ballots in the country’s seventh general election. More than 54 million registered voters are choosing candidates from 42 political parties. This election marks the largest voter turnout since Ethiopia began its multiparty democratic process.
Ethiopians across the nation are electing members of nine regional councils as well as a new federal parliament. The newly elected parliament will play a central role in forming the next government and determining the country’s political direction.
